Between 1933 and 1957, Heuer produced onboard timepieces for instrument panels of airplanes and racing cars, which were called Autavia, as an abbreviation of AUTomobil and AVIAtion. After production, the name Autavia disappears from the collection for a while to reappear in 1962 when the company, under the leadership of Jack Heuer, launched a new wrist chronograph.
